who I am
Naoimh has dedicated her life to music, building a multi-faceted career spanning over three decades as a singer-songwriter, performer, educator, and musical/choral director. She has worked extensively on both national and international stages.
Performance & Songwriting Highlights
As a songwriter, Naoimh made a significant early impact by achieving a close second place in Eurosong ‘95 with her song ‘Always You’. Her compositions were later featured on ‘The Valley Project’ CD (2002), a collaborative album with Ian Byrne, Fran Harper, and Todd Wiseman. She also won prizes in both national (Dun Laoghaire Song Contest) and international (Unisong International Song Contest) competitions.
Performing as one half of the acoustic duo 'Penston & Harper' with Fran Harper, Naoimh regularly played the gig circuit, including appearances as featured artists at the Kansas City Irish Music Festival in 2003 and 2004.
Theatre & Concert Stage
Naoimh is a highly accomplished musical theatre performer, recognised with multiple AIMS Awards. She won Best Actress for her portrayal of Lola La Mar in Copacabana (2004) and Best Supporting Actress as The Witch in Into the Woods (2012), alongside multiple other nominations. In 2018, she was the recipient of the ‘Spirit of AIMS’ Award.
Her recent stage credits include a lead role in the world premiere of ‘Angel of Broadway’ at the National Concert Hall, Dublin (2019), as well as solo performances in the inaugural ‘Cork Proms’ (Cork Opera House, 2019) and ‘The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber’ (National Concert Hall, 2019).
Education
In 2020, Naoimh successfully completed a Master’s degree in Education (PME) from Hibernia College, graduating with First Class Honours. She currently works as a post-primary music teacher, continuing to inspire the next generation of musicians.
